# Collecting AWS CloudWatch Logs

This document details how to setup **AWS CloudWatch Log Collection**.

## Stackify AWS Monitor Setup

**AWS CloudWatch Logs** support requires a **Stackify AWS Monitor** server to forward log data to Stackify. A monitoring server is required for each AWS region you are logging in.

Log into your AWS account and click the **Launch Stack** button below to deploy the **CloudFormation Stack Cloud Formation Template**.

- Set parameter **StackifyCloudWatchLogs** to `true`
- Set parameter **StackifyCloudWatchLogsGroupNames** to the Log Groups you want to monitor (default is `*`).

## AWS Costs

- Each **Stackify AWS Monitor** runs inside an **t2.micro** ec2 instance by default.
- We suggest reducing retention on **CloudWatch Log Groups**.
