For Java application, Retrace offers both basic and advanced features. Thus, this guide will help you on how to get started with your Java application.

Step 1. Install Retrace

First, install the Retrace monitoring agent on your server.

Step 2. Enable the Java Agent

Take note that you must first install Retrace then enable the javaagent within your JVM application server.

Retrace supports Tomcat, Wildfy, Glassfish, Jetty, and other application containers.

Step 3. Name Your Application

Modify your stackify-api.properties file within your classpath to specify the name for your application. Retrace will use the assigned name. Also, you can specify the environment for your application. However, it will override all specified items when you install Retrace on your server.

Step 4. Send Your Logs to Retrace

You can send your applications logs to Retrace with multiple .NET logging frameworks. Make sure to send your logs to take full advantage of Retrace's error tracking and centralized logging features. Errors are also used as part of Retrace's App Scoring feature.

Step 5. Deployment Tracking

In the event of a new deployment, it will notify Retrace. This is to get advanced reporting features and it helps to see how performance changes after a new deployment. Popular tools like Team City, Jenkins, Bamboo, and others are supported. Read our documentation to learn more.
