  1. Install Prefix
  2. Using the tray icon for Windows, enable the profiler.

  1. Restart Visual Studio
  2. Run Prefix by opening http://localhost:2012 in your browser

Additional Steps

Depending on what type of application you are using and your version of Visual Studio, there are some additional things you need to know.

ASP.NET with Visual Studio 2015

If you are using Visual Studio 2015, please read this help document to get Prefix working properly.

For ASP.NET core, you will need to add our middleware to your project. Read this help document for more details.

Non Web Applications

Non web applications are supported by Prefix Premium. To learn more about how this works, please read this help document.

View Your Application Logs with Prefix

One of the best uses for Prefix is using it to view your application logging. To view your logs, you will need to add the correct Stackify log appender to your project for log4net, NLog, or Serilog.

API Key Not Required
You do not need a Stackify.ApiKey for Prefix as mentioned in our logging guides for Retrace.
